Edit Text Pro changes the text that is already in a PDF: a misspelt name on page 40 of a thesis, a wrong date in a contract, an old phone number in a brochure, a sentence your supervisor wants rewritten. You don’t need the original Word or LaTeX file, and you don’t need Acrobat. Add the PDF, tap the text, type, and save.
There are two ways to edit. Line mode is for small fixes: tap a line and it becomes an edit box in the same font, size and colour, right where the line was. Change a word or the whole line, press Enter, and the page preview updates. Paragraph mode is for rewrites: tap a paragraph, type the new text, and it is wrapped again within the same width and line spacing. If the new paragraph needs more lines than before, you get a clear warning, because the text below it does not move in this version.
The font is kept wherever possible. When the PDF contains the font and that font has every letter you typed, the very same font is used. PDFs often keep only the letters they needed, so a new letter may be missing; then a free font with the same letter widths is used instead, such as Tinos for Times New Roman, Arimo for Arial, Carlito for Calibri or Noto for Hindi, and the page tells you which one. Hindi and other Devanagari text is shaped properly, so conjuncts and vowel signs come out right.
The old text is really removed from the page, not hidden under a white box, so nobody can find it by copying or searching. The new text is real text: you can select it, copy it and search for it in Chrome, Acrobat or any reader. Everything else on the page stays exactly where it was. Your original stays intact inside the saved file, and Undo all takes you back at any time before you save.
Everything happens on your device. Your PDF is never uploaded, which matters for theses, contracts and personal documents. A few things can’t be edited yet: scanned pages need OCR PDF first, equations and text drawn as shapes can’t be changed, and editing a digitally signed PDF breaks its signature, which the page warns you about. For adding new text or images rather than changing what is there, use Edit PDF.
