PDF/A is a kind of PDF made for archiving: everything needed to show the file in 20 years is stored inside it.
Can I edit a PDF/A file later?
You can, but editing may break the PDF/A rules, so convert it again after changes.

Yes. PDF to PDF/A is free and needs no sign-up; there is a fair daily limit per person.
What happens to my file?
It is sent to our server over HTTPS, converted, and deleted after 1 hour. Nobody looks at it.
